Research and Information Gathering prior to starting project

Research and Information Gathering / Brainstorming

• Requirements-Specifications:
After our meeting with the client we acquired various pieces of information including the clients requirements which will subsequently enable us to pin down certain assets which will definitely require change and alternation in regards to the website design. Generally we have been given a somewhat broad basis to work from in that the client was open to a lot of changes and possible modifications almost to the extent of a complete website overhaul apart from one mere artefact it being the current logo which the client wishes to keep. Consequently after evaluating our meeting with the client I have narrowed the client’s requirements down somewhat:
1. A more professional state of the art up-to-date website.
2. Innovative and interactive features.
3. Introduction of sound (optional)
4. Introduction of video.
5. A more animated site structure/ browser friendly surfing.
6. Easy update system
7. Colour scheme/ dark green/gold/blue. Could elaborate on this.
8. Branding sequence. Make website outstanding/could be the main branding sequence for leaflets and brochures to follow.
9. More stylish typography.
10. Introduction of more professional photography. (Banner etc)
In regards to how we approach this project we will have to structure and plan our design process subsequently splitting various categories such as photography and typography and assigning them to a particular person in order for this project to work. Therefore in knowing this we will have to assign certain people to certain tasks. A simple way of doing this could be splitting all aspects of the website redesign into 3-4 sections preferably related such as typography, photography and perhaps colour scheme design and designating one person to this section of the design. Another person could tackle the layout, wording of text and information and the main body of the site including what should and what should not be included in the website text wise. Another area of tasks to be fulfilled would be the overall management and overseeing of the website production and merging of all the different tasks carried out by the rest of the designers. Interactive features and animation features could be another potential task for one to carry out in order to meet the clients requirements.
